I am a Creature of solitude
I am a Creature of solitude 
Birthed to a world that did not want me 
Did not need me 
Did not see me. 
I walk the roads alone 
Yet not lonely 
For I am enough 
Though I knew it not 'til now.
Silence is my sustenance 
Stillness my drink 
Bird song a welcome intrusion 
Running brook and crashing sea waves 
My lullaby from the womb. 
I am a Creature of solitude 
Never lonely. 
Sometimes the world calls to me 
But I squirm from its soulish braying.
How different the song of the Soulful Ones 
Inviting, inviting
So I stop on the road 
And turn towards the Song 
Until another day.
